TextScoop Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 30, 2026
TextScoop is designed to process text locally on your device. This policy explains how TextScoop uses screen recording and how it handles the content it accesses.
1. Screen & System Audio Recording
When you use TextScoop’s screen-capture features, the app:
Although macOS uses the combined permission name Screen & System Audio Recording, TextScoop does not record system audio, microphone audio, or any other audio.
TextScoop does not perform continuous or background screen recording. Screen access is used only when you explicitly start a capture.
TextScoop does not send these screenshots or the extracted text to its own servers, and it does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
2. Accessibility Permission (Optional)
TextScoop may optionally request Accessibility permission in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility for paste-related features.
If you enable these features, TextScoop uses Accessibility only to perform paste actions you request, such as pasting captured text directly into another app, or to detect the paste command needed to clear TextScoop’s temporary copied buffer after you paste.
TextScoop does not use Accessibility permission to read your documents, collect content from other apps, record your keystrokes, monitor your activity, or control your Mac for unrelated purposes.
These features are optional. TextScoop’s basic capture and copy features can be used without granting Accessibility permission.
3. Use of Captured Content
The screenshots and extracted content are used only to perform the actions you choose, such as:
In these cases, TextScoop passes only the necessary text or links to the destination app or service (for example, your web browser, search engine, mail app, or a macOS “Services” item). Those apps and services handle the data under their own privacy policies.
TextScoop does not share your screenshots or text with third parties for its own purposes and does not transmit them anywhere without you choosing an action that sends them.
4. Storage and Retention
TextScoop uses captured content only for the duration of the action you requested and then discards it. TextScoop does not keep copies of your screenshots or extracted text for its own use.
If you choose an action that sends content to another app or service (such as Search the Web, Open Link, Share, or Services), any further storage is handled by that destination app or service under its own privacy policy.
