Privacy Policy for Copy ’Em
Last updated: May 2, 2026

Copy ’Em is a clipboard manager for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The Mac app and the iPhone/iPad app are sold separately, but they are designed around the same privacy principles. This Privacy Policy explains what information Copy ’Em processes, how it is used, where it is stored, and what choices you have.

Some features and permissions apply only to Copy ’Em for Mac, while others apply only to Copy ’Em for iPhone and iPad. Those differences are noted below.

1) Summary
  • On-device by default: Copy ’Em stores app data locally on your device.
  • Optional iCloud Sync: If you enable iCloud Sync, a copy of your app data is stored in your private iCloud storage and synced only to your devices that are signed into the same Apple ID, have Copy ’Em installed, and have iCloud Sync enabled.
  • No developer collection: Copy ’Em does not transmit your clipboard contents, screenshots, or keyboard input to the developer’s servers.
  • No third-party advertising or tracking: Copy ’Em does not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising or tracking.
  • Platform-specific permissions: Some permissions are used only for specific features on Mac, iPhone, or iPad, as described below.

2) Information Copy ’Em Processes
Copy ’Em may process the following types of information depending on which app you use and which features you enable.

Clipboard data
Copy ’Em can store items you copy to the system clipboard, such as text, images, links, files, or other clipboard content, so you can view, organize, search, and reuse them later.

Screenshots — Mac only
Copy ’Em for Mac includes screenshot features. When you explicitly start a screenshot action, Copy ’Em may capture screen content for that action, such as the full screen, a timed full screen screenshot, a selected window, or a selected area.

On macOS, these features require Apple’s screen recording permission. Depending on your macOS version, this permission may appear as Screen Recording or Screen & System Audio Recording.

Copy ’Em uses this permission only for user-initiated screenshot actions. Copy ’Em does not record system audio, microphone audio, video, continuous screen activity, background activity, analytics, advertising data, or tracking data.

Accessibility permission — Mac only
Copy ’Em for Mac may request Accessibility permission if you choose to use features that paste directly from Copy ’Em into other apps.

Copy ’Em uses Accessibility permission only to perform user-initiated paste actions and related app functionality. Copy ’Em does not use Accessibility permission to monitor what you type, read the contents of other apps, track your activity, collect analytics, or send your data to the developer.

You can use Copy ’Em without Accessibility permission, but direct paste features may not be available or may have limited functionality.

Paste keyboard Full Access — iPhone and iPad only
Copy ’Em for iPhone and iPad includes an optional paste keyboard. The keyboard can be used with limited functionality without Full Access.

To use all paste keyboard features, iOS/iPadOS requires you to enable Full Access for the keyboard. Full Access lets the keyboard work with your Copy ’Em data, including showing and pasting saved items, saving new clipboard data, syncing with iCloud when iCloud Sync is enabled, and playing sound effects.

Copy ’Em does not use the paste keyboard to transmit your data to the app developer or any third party. Copy ’Em does not sell or share keyboard input, clipboard contents, or pasted items for advertising or tracking.

Paste from Other Apps permission — iPhone and iPad only
On iOS and iPadOS, when Copy ’Em attempts to read copied data from the system clipboard, the system may ask whether you want to allow pasting into Copy ’Em.

By default, you may be asked each time. You can change this in:
Settings → Apps → Copy ’Em → Paste from Other Apps → Allow

This setting is controlled by iOS/iPadOS. Copy ’Em reads clipboard data only to provide its clipboard management functionality.

3) Sharing / Disclosure
Copy ’Em does not send your clipboard contents, screenshots, or keyboard input to the developer.

Copy ’Em does not sell or share your clipboard contents, screenshots, keyboard input, or pasted items with third parties for advertising or tracking.

If you enable iCloud Sync, your app data is stored in your private iCloud account and synced by Apple to your other devices signed into the same Apple ID.

4) Storage and Retention
By default, Copy ’Em stores app data locally on your device.

If iCloud Sync is enabled, a copy of your app data is stored in your private iCloud storage and synced only with Copy ’Em on your other devices where iCloud Sync is also enabled.

Copy ’Em retains stored clipboard items, including screenshots you captured, until you delete them, clear the app’s history if available, or uninstall the app.

If iCloud Sync is enabled, deletions may also sync across your devices using iCloud.

5) Your Choices and Controls
  • You can delete individual items stored by Copy ’Em at any time within the app.
  • You can use Copy ’Em for Mac without Screen Recording / Screen & System Audio Recording permission if you do not use screenshot features that require it.
  • You can revoke Screen Recording / Screen & System Audio Recording permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  • You can use Copy ’Em for Mac without Accessibility permission, but direct paste features may not be available or may have limited functionality.
  • You can revoke Accessibility permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
  • On iPhone and iPad, you can use the Copy ’Em paste keyboard with limited functionality without Full Access.
  • On iPhone and iPad, you can enable or disable keyboard Full Access in Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Copy ’Em.
  • On iPhone and iPad, you can control paste permission in Settings → Apps → Copy ’Em → Paste from Other Apps.
  • You can disable iCloud Sync, if available and enabled, in Copy ’Em’s settings.
